Last night from Goiania Arena in Goiania, Goias, Brazil, Carlos Condit returned to the octagon to face Thiago “Pitbull”Alves. Pitbull entered the octagon winning 11 of his last 15 fights. Condit didn’t fight in 2014 due to a gruesome knee injury (ACL) and was ready to step back in and shake off the dust. Well during the fight it looked like in the first round Alves was in the lead and Condit was just finding his stride and throwing some jabs. Round 2 was a much different story. Condit came out fired up throwing elbows like a bat out of hell. 2 key elbows landed and broken Thiago’s nose and after that Condit just applied more and more pressure. Pitbull didn’t give up and at the end of the round the doctors stopped the match because the nose was badly injured. Alves wanted to continue, but couldn’t. As for that result Condit was declared the winner of TKO (doctor stoppage) ! Condit landed 107 total strikes and Alves only landed 35. Significant strikes were key too, which Condit had 75 and Alves had 34. This was Condit’s 30th career win and owns a record now of (30-8-0) With Condit winning he will remain most likely as the number 4 ranked welterweight fighter, but he can challenge the champ now. I would like to see that, but i think he needs to fight one top ranked fighter ahead of him in order to challenge Robbie Lawler for the belt.
