Today, the Oilers traded to get their stop gap goalie in Cam Talbot who they think can man the fort for the next 5 to 6 years for them. Good move while top goalie prospect Laurent Brossoit develops into the future starting goalie for Edmonton. Laurent is only 22 and is currently in the AHL. Brossoit is slated to become the full time starter in the AHL for The Oilers minor league team. The 27 year old Cam Talbot is coming over from the Rangers for 3 draft picks for this current draft. Talbot stepped up big time for the Rangers this past season while Henrik Lundqvist was hurt. Talbot had a record of 21 wins and 9 losses with 4 overtime losses (21-9-4). He did this in 36 games. He had a save percentage of .926 and a goal against average of 2.21. Talbot looked really good for the Rangers well because he is good and the Rangers are good. He is going to Edmonton where goalies go to die, but i really think Talbot can end this streak. Plus Edmonton is improving a lot and with free agency coming up hopefully get Talbot some good defenseman. Oilers did strike gold right now, but will the move pan out? Time will tell.
