With the trade deadline approaching the Orioles are only 5 games back out of 1st place in the AL East and could add a bat to help bolster the lineup. The Orioles have a piece or two that some teams want. That piece is quality starting pitching. The Orioles can part ways with Kevin Gausman or Bud Norris and go acquire a bat from the Tigers. Gausman time in Baltimore is close to an end. The former 1st round pick can’t seem to figure it out. Gausman is only 24 years old and had a good 2014 campaign, but battling injuries in the beginning of the 2015 and is just getting back to the mound, but is struggling. The Orioles can try and pry Yoenis Cespedes from Detroit. If that happens Cespedes adds quality defense and power to the Orioles, also the lineup will have extra protection no matter where he bats in the lineup. Cespedes would be a rental because he is a unrestricted free agent after this season and would ask for lots of cash in his new deal. That means the Orioles will most likely let him walk after this season. Cespedes is currently hitting .289 with 14 dingers and 54 RBIs, per Baseball-Reference.com. Also, Price will most likely leave Tigers at the end of the season if not traded at deadline and it would be nice to have a young gun ready to replace him for the future. Overall, Its a win-win situation for both teams!
