Today, The Cardinals and Indians swapped players. Brandon Moss will head to St.Louis and look to play some first base and outfield, but more first base because they really never got a first baseman to replace Adams, who was hurt earlier in the year. Reynolds and Moss will split time and with Moss most likely to play first, rookie Stephen Piscotty will play more outfield with Matt Holliday going down with the same quad injury on the same leg. Moss is a power threat and will add major pop to this Cardinals lineup. Moss on the season has hit 15 home runs and 50 RBIs. He is hitting .217. Not a hitter who hits for average.
Now, the Indians received the Cardinals 2nd best pitcher and best left handed pitcher in the farm system. Also, Rob Kaminsky is the Cardinals 3rd best prospect overall. Kaminsky is only 20 years old and is currently at advanced Single-A and should be called up to Double-A before the season ends. Kaminsky pitched himself to a 6-5 record with 79 Ks, 28 walks, 2.09 ERA on 94.2 innings. The former first round pick from 2013 had the best curveball in the Cardinals system because it goes down sharp and tight in the range of the upper 70’s. Fastball is his second best pitch. It ranges from 88-92 that can magically reach 95 mph and a developing changeup. He throws from a 3 quarters slot due to his height (5’11”) and throwing in this motion adds a plane to his delivery and pitches. He could end in the bullpen due to his size, but Sonny Gray is that big and is a starter. Also for that Kaminsky will be a starter. The Indians stole Kaminsky from the Cardinals for nothing really.
