Yankees Get More Versatile

Meanwhile, The Yankees seem very quiet during the week of the MLB deadline. Today, the Yankees acquired utility man Dustin Ackley. Ackley can play everywhere except behind the plate and on the mound. Ackley will pop some homers over that short porch in right field because it is an advantage for left handed hitters. Ackley will have to shave his lumberjack beard. Ackley has hit .215 this season with 6 homers and 19 RBIs. The former 2nd overall pick of the 2009 MLB Draft really didn’t develop like the Mariners expected, but he will have a fresh start in New York and will be fine there. He will do better than Stephen Drew. Ackley is currently hitting the best all year in the month of July with a OPS over .800 and a batting average of .286. That could be the reason the Yankees traded for him and his versatility also. Mariners acquired right handed pitcher Jose Ramirez and outfielder Ramon Flores.
