Today, the biggest shocker out of all cuts in the NFL so far is the Buffalo Bills cut 8 year veteran Fred Jackson. Jackson was entering his 9th season on a one year deal for around $2.3 mil. Jackson went undrafted back in 2006. The Coe product caught onto the Bills roster back in 2006. Ever since that moment he was one of the Bills team and producing. Jackson was the man to see in Buffalo between the 2009 and 2011 seasons. In 2012 he was hurt most of the season, but bounced back nice in 2013 and in 2014 he split reps. Overall, Jackson’s success was between 2009 and 2011 Jackson accumalated nearly 3,000 yards and rushed for 13 touchdowns. He caught 116 passes and picked up 1,028 yards on 4 touchdowns. Overall, in his career he totaled up 5,646 rushing yards and 30 rushing touchdowns. He was not just a player, he was a great person in Buffalo. He was a leader on the field and off the field, also he was the heart of the team. Buffalo did him wrong and should of let him finish up his contract.
In addition, Jackson, who entered training camp as the NFL’s oldest running back at age 34, was a team captain, a fan favorite and the franchise’s third-leading rusher behind Thurman Thomas and O.J. Simpson.
In addition, to Jackson release some people had to say some words about Fred Jackson. “Today, we had to make the difficult decision to release Fred Jackson,” Bills general manager Doug Whaley said in a statement. “He had an incredible career for this organization for the past 10 years. “We thank Fred for his hard work, dedication and leadership during his tenure with the Buffalo Bills. Fred has inspired the city of Buffalo in a number of ways. Fred and his family have been dedicated to this community, and we can’t thank them enough for their contributions through his career.”
Finally, with Lesean McCoy has battled injuries the past 2 years and has had some injuries in camp this year. Why cut Fred Jackson, who is a proven back in this league and is cheap. Jackson is a team player and was fine of taking less snaps to let McCoy take his 300 plus rushing attempts, but the running back depth chart in Buffalo just looks weaker now without Fred Jackson.Taking Jackson off hurts the team, especially with loud mouth McCoy. The rest of the running backs on the team includes Bryce Brown, rookies Bronson Hill and Karlos Williams, Cierre Wood, Boobie Dixon.
Extra: Fred Jackson will fine a new team to play for. After a couple of days he decided to sign with the Seattle Seahawks. He reunites with Marshawn Lynch. Lynch played with Jackson in Buffalo.
