Today, A.F.C. Bournemouth decided that they needed to add a young striker in Benik Afobe. Afobe was sold by Wolverhampton for a £10m fee. This is the biggest club purchase in the history of A.F.C. Bournemouth. Afobe is set to spend his next 4.5 years of his career in Bournemouth.
Next, Afobe will join the Cherries, which are a young and exciting team. Benik Afobe and Callum Wilson will be a striking duo to watch for for many years to come. They are probably the best under 24 duo in Barclays Premier League.
In addition, the 22-year-old has spent his last 46 appearances of his career in Wolverhampton. In those 46 games, Afobe has found the back of the net 22 times.
In fact, the England native is one of the leading scorers in English football since August 2014 with 42 goals. He is behind Tottenham’s striker Harry Kane (45 goals) and Manchester City’s striker Sergio Aguero (43).
Finally, Stuart Pearce said “he thinks Afobe will be a hit because he is going to a club where he will be a big fish as their record signing, and that will give him a lot of confidence. I think that can only be a good thing for him.” Pearce also thinks that Afobe’s skills are a nice feature and bring a different style to Bournemouth. On his skill set this is what Pearce said “his acceleration, and if he uses it in the right manner, going in-behind defences, is going to be an asset. The further you go up the food chain in football, the quicker and more physical you are the better.”
