Today, Lavonte David and Logan Mankins have been named to the Pro Bowl. They are replacing DeMarcus Ware of the Broncos and Trai Turner of the Panthers. These two will join teammates Gerald McCoy and Doug Martin in the Pro Bowl. Now, the Bucs had a good season with some ups and downs, but with four Pro Bowlers, it seems they had a better year in individual play.
In fact, this is Lavonte’s first trip, despite playing at an elite level every season so far in his career. He is replacing DeMarcus Ware because Ware is heading to Super Bowl 50 like Trai Turner. Lavonte finished the season with 147 tackles, 3 sacks, 2 force fumbles, and 3 interceptions. That is a elite season for a 4-3 outside linebacker (real outside linebacker).
Finally, Logan Mankins will be going to his 7th Pro Bowl (6 with Patriots, 1 with Bucs) and will hopefully get drafted to the same team as Doug Martin so they can run all over the defense like they did in the regular season. Mankins is the anchor of the Bucs’ line and hopefully he comes back for a final season next year. The Bucs will do great things next year and will need Mankins’ leadership and experience.
Note: The Pro Bowl is set to be played on Sunday, January 31st at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii.
