Earlier today, Andrew Ladd has learned that he will be going back to Chicago. This is Ladd’s second time being a Blackhawk. Now on the other hand, the Jets will receive a 2016 first round draft pick, a 2018 conditional draft pick, and young winger Marko Dano. Interestingly, the conditional draft pick hinges on whether the Blackhawks win the cup.
In addition, Winnipeg will pay 36% of Ladd’s contract to help the deal go through. Now, defenseman Jay Harrison and forward Matt Fraser will be heading over with Ladd to the Windy City.
In fact, Ladd was the best rental on the market and boy does this help the Blackhawks get closer to more gold. The Blackhawks will try to win their fourth championship in seven seasons.
Ladd has had a good season by so far scoring 17 goals and 17 assists for a total of 34 points in 59 games.Ladd has familiarity in Chicago’s system. The 30-year-old will most likely find a new home in the off-season due to the fact that he will demand lots of money.
Finally, Dano will step in the Jets’ lineup as soon as possible. He had a good rookie year with Columbus last season, then found himself being traded to Chicago for this season, but has played in limited games at the professional level with the Hawks. So far, this season at the NHL level has scored 1 goal and 1 assist for only 2 points in 13 games. He is only 21 and has lots of potential. He will be a perfect fit in Winnipeg as they are in sort of a rebuild mode.
