Today, Marvin Jones had two offers out there. One from the Bengals and one from the Lions. Well it was a stressful decision for Jones to leave the team that gave him a chance in this league said Marvin Jones, but he has a chance to improve his game in Detroit with Stafford throwing the football, which he is more of a passer than Andy Dalton. Jones will be the Lions’ number two receiver that pairs him with Golden Tate. Those two receivers are similar in many ways.
Next, Jones will receive five-years worth $40 mil, according to Rapoport. The 25-year-old receiver had a nice breakout season last year by playing all 16 games (13 starts) while catching 65 footballs for 816 yards and scoring 4 times. He averaged 12.6 yards per catch.
Finally, Jones and Tate are the only two reliable receivers the Lions have and behind them they have Corey Fuller, T.J. Jones, Austin Willis, Corey Washington, and Ryan Spadola. That is a weak group of receivers, but expect Fuller to see more balls thrown his way as he is a breakout candidate waiting to happen.
