The legend of Jaromir Jagr continues as he decides to play another year. Jagr is 44 years old, but that does not stop him from playing the game he loves. The man stays in shape and can still do one thing that will keep a player in the league longer, and that one thing is the ability to score goals and create chances for his teammates.
The veteran forward is coming off another great season where he logged a total of 27 goals and 39 assists that gave him 66 points on the year. He was plus 23 on the ice, which is tremendous. He also averaged at least a little over 17 minutes per game and he played in 79 games.
Next, the line that Jagr plays on consists of Jonathan Huberdeau and Aleksander Barkov. This is one of the most consistent lines in all of hockey. This is a top three line in hockey and these guys lead their team to the playoffs with the help of the others. Let alone, Jagr brings tons of knowledge and experience that is well shared to the younger players that allows the Panthers to get an advantage, which it did happened due to the fact they made the playoffs.
Finally, Jagr will receive a one-year deal worth $4 mil with a chance to make an extra $1.5 mil in incentives if he plays a certain amount of games, according to Sportsnet’s Chris Johnston. Also Chris Johnston reported that Jagr’s contract also includes $15,000 in possible performance bonuses: $5,000 for the Hart, $5,000 for the Art Ross, $5,000 for Stanley Cup.
