Jhoulys Chacin was scheduled to make his start today for the Braves, but his Braves tenure has ended earlier than expected. The Braves moved William Perez’s start up after the trade was processed. According to Mike DiGiovanna, the Braves will acquire southpaw Adam McCreery.

The Angels had to pull the trigger to help try and save their rotation as Garrett Richards tore his ucl that will require him to get Tommy John surgery, which means he is finished for the 2016 campaign. Also, the Angels have more problems than just losing Richards for the year as southpaw Andrew Heaney also has ucl damages, but he is deciding to go with rehab. If the rehab goes well he could make an impact down the road, but if it goes wrong, the young lefty could be out for a longer time that could potentially creep into next season. As for now, he is currently on the 60 day disabled list and it seems C.J. Wilson will return later in the season as he is still dealing with shoulder issues.

In addition, the Angels are getting a veteran pitcher that is on a comeback to show that he can still pitch at a high level, but so far this year has not been to kind to him. The 28-year-old has posted a 5.40 ERA in five starts, but he does have 27 strikeouts in 26.2 innings, which does show he can still get hitters out. Lastly, he will join Jered Weaver, Hector Santiago, and Nick Tropeano.

Finally, Adam McCreery, a 23-year-old southpaw has been creeping around the Angels farm system by spending the 2014 and 2015 season playing rookie ball. He has not pitched yet in 2016 according to milb.com. He did improve last year compared to his first season in the Angels farm system. He has yet reached Single-A, but he should be there soon. This is a nice gem for the Braves to have in the future if he progresses well and fix those control issues. The 6’8″ lefty can throw a fastball 95 mph or higher with two polished breaking balls (slider and change-up). Knows how to pitch as he not only strike hitters out, but he produces ground ball outs at a rate of 2.71.

Prediction: McCreery will be the Braves future left handed setup man.
