Jamal Crawford is nearing the end of his career and is looking for that one ring, but which team can afford his services and fulfill his dream of getting some hardware other than just a sixth man award, which he won for the third time in his career. He could use that as leverage towards a team that needs a sixth man badly and especially in the long playoff run, which the teams that could take interest in his services will only be playoff caliber teams. The three teams include the Los Angeles Clippers, Oklahoma City Thunder, and the Miami Heat.
Now, Jamal Crawford finished the 2015-2016 season by playing in 79 games and starting only 5 of them. In those 79 regular season games, he averaged 26.9 minutes per game, which he took the less amount of field goal attempts in his history in Los Angeles with only 11.9 per game. He shot a 40 percent from the field and shot 34 percent from behind the arc. Now, he did produce his highest free throw percentage (.904) with his time in Los Angeles. Crawford scored 14.2 points per game.
Furthermore, Crawford has expressed interest in staying with the Clippers, but I just do not see them getting over the hump that they have been on every season. If he stays in Los Angeles, he will get the same time or a little less per game and it seems that he will be okay playing where he likes instead of seeing gold around his finger. I think they should part ways because Crawford will not be there forever and that they have a young player like C.J. Wilcox waiting for his name to be called.
Next, the Thunder make lots of sense, but it depends on what happens to Dion Waiters, who has a qualifying offer after this season for $6.7 mil. I think the Thunder will let him walk and same as much money they have to extend Russell Westbrook and to re-sign Kevin Durant. Whatever money they have left, they should spend it to boost their bench and make their bench really good by bringing in crossover killer, Jamal Crawford. Crawford will be their sixth man and touch the ball a lot more than he did this past season in LA.
Finally, the Miami Heat do not have that much money freed up, but if they find a way, Crawford would be a great option as Wade needs some time off or at least a minute reduction. Also, lots of their guards were hurt this year and Crawford can play both the guard spots. If they can unload McRoberts contract, they can maybe give $5 mil or $6 mil of McRoberts money to Crawford and pitch to him that the Heat will go further in the playoffs than the Clippers.
Prediction: Jamal Crawford and the Los Angeles Clippers will find a way to get a deal done.
