Buccaneers Standouts In Loss

Today, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers did not show up against the Arizona Cardinals. They lost 40-7. The Buccaneers came into today’s game with a nice confidence boost after winning against the Atlanta Falcons in week one, but could not get into a roll like they wanted like last week. Koetter said “It was a good reality check for the team.”

Now, as the team did not show up, there were few players that stood out in this defeat. Some players that caught my eye were Adam Humphries, Mike Evans and other players that made either a milestone or debut.

First, Noah Spence getting his first career sack was amazing to see, as Buccaneer fans should be excited for him. Many more will come for the young pass rusher.

Next, in the few snaps Jacquizz Rodgers received, he took full advantage of them, as he showed Buccaneer fans that he is still the guy that they use to face when he was playing for the Falcons. He was doing a nice job in the pass blocking area, but the veteran back ran the ball well twice for 29 yards. His longest run was a 24-yard pickup.

In the beginning of the game, Alterraun Verner had two brilliant pass breakups, but as the game went along, he was shaky along with his teammates, but played at a decent level over others in the secondary.

Furthermore, the two players that definitely left today’s game on a high note were Adam Humphries and Mike Evans, as Winston believes “they played well.” Both receivers caught a combined total of 12 passes for 137 yards with one score (Evans). Evans had a tough day against Patrick Peterson, but he toughed it out and played well. On the other hand, Humphries was Winston’s security blanket today. Also, Humphries had a big return that allowed him to finish with five punt returns for 43 yards. Many Bucs fans I asked about these two players said “they were the only ones who they thought produced for the Bucs.”

Finally, the Buccaneers will come home for week three, as it is their first home game on the year. They will play the Los Angeles Rams and look to bounce back after a brutal defeat from Arizona.
