Blues Acquire Yakupov

Tonight, the Blues added a talented winger to the roster, as they acquired Nail Yakupov for a prospect and draft pick from the Edmonton Oilers.

The Yakupov experiment in Edmonton did not pan out how the Oilers would of wanted, but the former 2012 first overall pick needed a change of scenery.

Also, the Blues added the young winger, as they have two forwards missing with Vladimir Sobotka being stuck in Russia and Jaden Schwartz hurt.

In addition, the Blues took on all of Yakupov’s salary, which other teams trying to trade for him would not do.

Another reason why the Blues could have traded for the youngster is by seeing their rivals the Chicago Blackhawks showing interest in the former Oiler.

The Blues are hoping they can fix him, as he has tons of potential and talent, which is why he was the number one overall pick back in the 2012 NHL Draft.

Finally, In 252 games, he has scored 50 goals and assisted on his teammates goals 61 times for a point total of 111.

Personally, I am glad that he was traded. No offense to him but I felt like it was a positive move for the team. I am an avid hockey fan but also a fan of business entrepreneurs like Daryl Katz. His family pharmacy empire grew tenfold under his direction and management. He paid $200 million for the Edmonton Oilers . in 2008 and he is currently working to refocus his efforts to build Canada’s largest mixed use-sports and entertainment district. He is by far one of the most successful businessmen in North America. I am looking forward to seeing how he helps to take this team to the next level and what is next venture will be. He is really focusing on helping Edmonton become a fantastic tourist destination.
