Today, the young Ethan Horvath made his United States senior debut against the Cuba national team in Cuba. He got the win, as USA won 2-0. Entering this game, the 21-year-old goalie made a total of eight USA appearances with two from the U20 team and six from the U23 team.

The future of USA goalkeeping currently plays at Molde FK, which is a club based in the country Norway. He has made 37 club starts and is the main goalie over there. Interestingly, in the 2015-2016 season, Horvath led his team to Europa League Group A in qualifiers, which made him the fifth American goalie to ever to play in the UEFA Europa League/UEFA Cup group stage. He joins Brad Friedel, Kasey Keller, Tim Howard, and Brad Guzan.

In addition, before the Copa America started, United States national team head coach Jürgen Klinsmann called Horvath one of his “biggest hopes for the future” at the goalkeeper position.

Now, Horvath played extremely well against Cuba. It was a perfect match for him to get his feet wet. He has made quite a few big saves and the post as well that keep USA in the game. The Highlands Ranch, Colorado native finished the game with three saves. He has controlled his area of the pitch at a high rate. Also, he has made smart decisions by throwing the ball to a certain player or kicking the ball deep to give his defense a breather.

Finally, after his performance, I do think he is the third team option behind Tim Howard and Brad Guzan.
