Today, the Orlando Magic made a trade that will ship Serge Ibaka to the Toronto Raptors for Terrence Ross and the Raptors 2017 first round pick, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical. This will most likely be the first round pick that the Clippers shipped to Toronto, which will most likely land around either 25th or 26th overall pick selection in the upcoming draft.
Overall, the draft pick means more to the Magic, as that player could be a big part of their future. It is a stacked draft, which is a bonus.
This trade will allow the Magic to give more playing time to Aaron Gordon at the four spot, which fits his skill set better than the three spot.
Now, acquiring Terrence Ross gives the team more versatility on the court, as he can play both the two and three spot.
Ross could be the missing small forward the team needs in their future. Also, Ross will get to show to the NBA world that he can be a big contributor to an NBA offense, as Toronto is stacked with fellow all-stars DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry.
Finally, Terrence Ross has been a nice player for the Raptors coming off the bench this year. In 54 games this year, he has averaged 10.4 points pergame to go along with a 82 free throw percentage and shooting a career high 44 percent from the field.
Note: Ross might have been coming into a player of his own, and I think the Magic got a steal here.
