Today, the Montreal Canadiens added former Capital’s defenseman Karl Alzner to the fold by giving him a sweet five-year deal worth $22.5MM, according to TSN.
Montreal gets a veteran defender in Alzner, who has been a reliable player with his time with the Caps. He has averaged 82 games the past four seasons.
Now, the 28-year old is not a big points producer, but he is overall a solid blue liner.
In addition, Alzner has picked up 19 career goals and 98 assists for a total of 117 points in 591 games while averaging 20:12 minutes of ice time.
Finally, Alzner will join a good defensive core.
