Earlier today, the Buffalo Bills signed veteran wide receiver Anquan Boldin, per NFL.com’s Peter Schrager. It will be a one-year pact worth $2.75MM with a solid chance on making an extra $1.25MM in incentives, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.com. If the aged (36) receiver can reach his incentive goals, he could make a total of $4MM at the season’s end.
Now, Boldin is the most experienced receiver on the roster, which means he will most likely shed a good amount of knowledge on the youngsters, as that group includes headliners like second-round draft pick Zay Jones and the speedster Sammy Watkins.
In addition, Boldin looks like he will automatically step in the slot spot, which he could become the team’s number two receiver if rookie Zay Jones struggles over the course of the preseason.
Finally, Boldin is not the monster he used to be on the field, but the seasoned vet can still ball out, as last year he picked up 67 catches for a career-high eight touchdowns and a career-low 584 receiving yards.
