The Cleveland Indians added more power to their lineup by acquiring Jay Bruce from the New York Mets for pitching prospect Ryder Ryan, per multiple sources.
This is a nice pickup for the Indians, as they needed Bruce’s bat with Michael Brantley just landing on the DL. Also, do not forget that Lonnie Chisenhall is on the DL too.
In addition, Bruce has had a solid 2016 campaign by belting 29 long balls in 403 at-bats (102 games) and driving in 75 RBIs. The power swinging lefty has batted himself into a .258 average and .524 slugging percentage.
Finally, Bruce will just seem to be a rental for the rest of the season for the Indians and he will most likely be playing in a new ballpark in the 2017-2018 campaign.
Note: Shockingly, Bruce’s metric numbers on defense has improved, which is a boost to his next future contract, as he was rated as a poor defender for a while.
