The Oklahoma City Thunder are about to bolster their bench by signing Corey Brewer officially on Friday after he clears waivers. The Los Angeles Lakers bought him out today.
The news was reported and confirmed by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Marc Stein of The New York Times reports that Brewer will retain his playoff eligibility with the Thunder.
Brewer, who has seen limited action this year with the Los Angeles Lakers, due to the youth movement has averaged a career-low 12.9 MPG in 54 contests. His numbers in several other categories, including PPG (3.7), RPG (1.7), and 3PT% (.186) are also career worsts.
The veteran player has not been a great shooter in his NBA career, but has been a better defender in his NBA career.
Finally, Brewer gives the Thunder another Andre Roberson (out for year), which is fine with three great shooters/playmakers in the league.
Note: It is great to have a good bench heading near playoff time.
