Kentucky’s Hamidou Diallo has officially declared for the draft and intends to hire an agent, Adam Zagoria of Zagsblog.com tweets.
With Diallo declaring for the draft, he will be marked as the fourth Kentucky underclassman to depart from the program for the NBA. He is joining Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Kevin Knox, and PJ Washington.
Interestingly, Diallo tested the draft waters a year ago after enrolling early at Kentucky, returned to school and played his freshman season in 2017/18.
In addition, The 6’5″ shooting guard averaged 10.0 Points per game and 3.6 rebounds per game with a .428/.338/.616 shooting line in 37 games for the Wildcats.
I think Diallo should stay for one more year, as he will get more chances to be highlighted than this past season, as Kevin Knox and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander captured the spectators and scouts eyes. Diallo caught some eyes, but next year he would of been John Calipari’s main scoring option.
Finally, Diallo still ranks as the No. 34 prospect on Jonathan Givony’s big board at ESPN.com, making him a strong candidate to be drafted. It will take a great combine to land him in the first round after a modest freshman season, but he will be drafted on June 21.
